Author : Mr. Seung-Pyo Chang (Graduate student), Mr. Doyu Lee (Graduate student), Dr. Young-Im Kim (Research fellow)
Description : This picture is the photograph of optical setup for eddy current B field measurement in the kicker which does important role in the muon g-2 experiment. This setup is based on the Faraday effect. The Faraday effect is magneto optical phenomenon which is about the interaction between the magnetic field and the polarized light. The magnetic field can be measured by measuring the rotated angle of polarized light. The 633 nm wavelength laser beam goes through the Galilean Telescope. Then it goes through the polarizer and two lenses which are for polarizing and controlling the beam size respectively. After the two lenses, the beam goes into the TGG (Terbium Gallium Garnet) crystal which is in the magnetic field we want to measure. The beam is reflected at the mirror behind the TGG crystal. Finally it arrives at the detector after another polarizer.
